A Zulu word, literally meaning "humanness," ubuntu is a social and spiritual philosophy serving as a framework for African society. Its essential meaning can be conveyed using the Zulu maxim "umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu," meaning, in essence, "a person is a person through other persons."

Paper Paper, Money Money!

October 29, 2005

I don’t have anything important to write for ya’ll right now, although it IS very important for moi:

ANG LAKI NG SWELDO KO!

Wait, wait, wait… Beer… Hmmm… Smoke… Hmmm… Clothes… Hmmm… Blue Magic… Hmmm… Shoes… Hmmm… Pizza… Hmmm… Books… Hmmm…

I feel so fulfilled right now. Makes me realize, money really is a good motivation. Actually, a great motivation.

Wait, wait, wait… I’ll just save it na lang with Mama’s for additional Christmas stuff! At least I wouldn’t have to worry about what I should spend it for. That nose ring is really cute, though. I guess I could spare myself that… :P

Something to Ponder Upon

I just recovered from a very, very nasty cold, which caused me to temporarily lose my sense of hearing. This, as I remember in high school, may be due to excess mucus, which causes clogging to the Eustachian tubes of the ear. Anyway, the biological part of it is not important, the one that matters most is the realization that this caused to me.

It’s God in Him Who Said “Para, Boss!”

October 28, 2005

This article describes the events that transpired on one simple day last month. This will probably be the one article in my blog site, which will have the least number of hits, maybe because it’s about God.

Anyway, if you are interested, scroll down the pic (but don’t ignore the pic, please) and click on the word below it.

A Critique: Prisoner of the Mind

October 27, 2005

I just came home from work, finished my lunch, accomplished my beauty regimens, when I felt a little tingle at the bottom of my stomach. This, under ordinary circumstances, indicates that I have to go empty my bowel already. So I grabbed a couple of Golds and a lighter, and quickly sought something for me to read. The whole process is really boring, so I had to find something that would keep me busy, lest I fall asleep in the lav. The latest White and Blue (official publication of the Saint Louis University) was the only one within reach, so I had no choice.

I started reading, and one particular article came to my attention: Prisoner of the Mind. Well, it caught me because of the name of the column itself: Vindicated. I love that word. Try to read what I think about this particular column, which prevented me from completing what I had to do in the CR in the first place.

Oxymoron and the Morons

As I understand, in our field of work, an overtime is the number of hours worked outside the prescribed regular hours. And this is requested of us, which makes it a favor that we are doing for them. This is really a royal pain in the ass, especially when you’re overworked already from dealing with stupid customers who don’t know how to deal professionally. Now, don’t get me wrong. I understand that some customers can be upset for valid reasons, but they must understand that it’s not our fault that they are undergoing those issues and that they need to cooperate. Moreover, I accept the Rest Day Overtimes (RDOT’s) that the administration asks of us. What I can’t take is that they ask us to extend our shifts for an hour or so, everytime we render RDOT’s. All I can say is, “Patayin n’yo na lang kami!”

I requested earlier to have one of my rest days be set off to another date because I won’t be available on that date. They agreed, so what happened was my rest day between two weeks was moved to an earlier time. This means that I have to work for two weeks straight, which is still okay for me, though. They approved the request for my rest day to be set off, and I owe them that. It would have been easier, but we have what they call “Mandatory RDOT”, which is as stupid as it is unfair. So that would be six days a week. So, I rendered that extra shift, which should have been my rest day, and when I logged out of the phones, they immediately ran to me, as if I murdered someone, and tapped my back, just to tell me to login again because calls are queueing. And so I did, and the call was extended for one and a half hours. And my rest day won’t be until the end of this second week! Hell!? Please read on…

The Extra Mile

I just finished a call, and it came from a customer who can’t connect to the internet. The customer had good lights on the modem. It was a good thing that the customer was computer savvy, and it actually made troubleshooting quite easy.

I thought at first that it would just be one of the basic failure-to-authenticate issues, which you can resolve within 10 minutes. I was wrong, though.

The Never-ending Routine

October 23, 2005

Papasok nanaman sa trabaho. Very beautiful, wearing a long sleeve polo overlapped by one of my thickest long sleeve knitteds, mega-strut at flaunt ako sa Session Road. Haaay, call center fever.

Ayan, tuloy sa rampa, with matching clutch bag on one hand and a cigarette on the other. I am puffing out smoke from my mouth when in public. It would add considerably to the overall effect. Parang contest rin yan e, palakasan. But I wouldn’t want myself to look stupid. “Sosyal” would be enough, thank you. Please continue to read.

Gusto Ko ng Baboy

Before reading this article, which falls under the category “The Vanity Chronicles,” I strongly advise that you read the introduction to this series. Moreover, focus on the disclaimer.

Ewan ko ba, I have a creative imagination naman, but I seem to lack the appropriate drive right now to exercise my literary prowess (naks!).

Haha. This reminds me so much of my aim to have a “healthier” build. I’m a little skinny kasi, and it makes me very inferioristic; although this inferiorism doesn’t show on my face when I fight daily 30-minute wars against my reflection in the mirror. I put a good fight no! Pa-kindat-kindat dito, pa-smile-smile jan. Ayun naman pala e, although I don’t have the body, I have the looks. I have the intelligence. I have the multi-talentedness.

Kung ala ka sa isang bagay, the other compensates. Law of balance. E Libra pa naman zodiac ko. Come to think of it, bakit ko ba ginawa tong blog na to? And I feel like laughing at myself right now. It’s not about the quantity, it’s the content. Well compensated, less tiring, more beautiful. Tapos.

Yosi

Here I am again, just finished my break, and just finished smoking my lungs out. Right now, I smell like a person who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day, and my body feels so tired already.

But I can still smile right now. Please read on.

Ang mga Maharlika

October 14, 2005

For a Good Hair Day

October 10, 2005

Before reading this article, which falls under the category “The Vanity Chronicles,” I strongly advise that you read the introduction to this series. Moreover, focus on the disclaimer.

Lots of people have been noticing lately how beautiful my hair is. They’ve been begging for some tips, and wondering why my hair’s so soft, which is unusual for a male person, according to them. But don’t shift to another blog yet! This article is about tips and info about your hair, not about moi boasting about mine.

Foremost is about how to take care of your hair. First on the list is how you shampoo it.

Introduction to the Vanity Chronicles

Everything seems to be boring these days, and depression easily dawns on me whenever I see ugliness (especially on some of my co-workers’ faces). Due to this, I remembered one cool thing, apart from Ton, that I discovered years ago, that could really boost my spirits.

Years ago, before we graduated high school, our adviser told us to get some paper, write our names on them, and pass them around to people that we like, so that they could write what they like about us. Each student did his, and those papers were what contributed to the bulk of our Year Book. But what is important was, we realized how many people cared for us. We discovered things that we hadn’t seen in us before. And whenever I read these words, until today, I feel so loved and so cared for. I feel very important. I succumb to the vanity and swim into the guilt, but nothing feels better than reading about you, for you. For when you feel down and upset, for whenever you feel like crying.

I know this sentence alone will give you a crystal clear idea: It is much like when reading your Friendster testimonials.

So, since no one is giving me testimonials anymore, I decided to create some for myself. POOF! The Vanity Chronicles. These articles will contain things that I see in myself that are unique, and things that I engage myself into that I am best at. In short, pagpapayabang. So that whenever I feel stupid, I’ll just open IE, and go to these articles, and I’ll be refreshed! I hope you try to make your own ones, too!

DISCLAIMER: Don’t read these articles if you’ll just feel inferior, angry, upset, insecure, immature, or whatever negative feeling afterwards. Don’t read these if you feel like raising your heavily penciled eyebrows when you see vain people. The purpose of these articles is to provide inspiration, serve as an example, and to uplift my morale when it needs one. Comments are not allowed (except if I like them )! :P

Rewards and Penalties

October 8, 2005

“Aba! Kasalanan ko bang di ka makapag-internet ngayon? E puro porn sites naman ang inaatupag mo jan e! Dinadagdagan mo pa ang kasalanan mo sa pagsigaw mo sa kin ng lahat ng profanities na pwedeng mahanap sa Webster’s.”

Haaay. Kung pwede mo lang sabihin sa customer yan. Ubos na pasensya ko. I don’t care if they will give me an IR/incident report. Matataas naman stats ko e. But di ko ata kayang gawin yun pag nangyari ulit. I’m too sane to do so. And very dedicated. Please continue to read. (more…)
